"when the deftones went into studio in 2004 they hired bob ezrin. he took the deftones to bigger and greater levels than they'd ever been before. so much so, that it united the entire band together which hasnt happened since around the fur. during white pony there were some divorces going on and same with the self titled album. when this album started to finalize, chino decided he didnt like the style of the album and refused to sing on it any further unless things changed.

when he was told nothing would change, he turned his back on the deftones and released team sleep's long awaited album and went on a full tour across the usa, then hopped a plane to europe for a month tour over there, then flew back to the east coast and toured back over to California.

it was after this almost 6 month hiatus that the deftones had a meeting and were literally THIS close to kicking chino out of the band. seriously. so they reconveined and decided that terry date, their old producer, and shaun lopez (guitarist from the revolution smile), should finalize their album. chino agreed and recorded the rest of the tracks and saturday night wrist hit the streets.

but this is the album that bob ezrin produced. only a few of the songs have lyrics, but the ones that dont are the ones that EVERY SINGLE deftones fan i know says wouldve been solid gold. Listen to it and im sure make a similar comparison of the albums. The instrumental song on saturday night wrist, the one titled after the konami nintendo cheat code, is the only song that remained untouched and on the deftones album.

oh and one last thing, for those of you who aren't aware of Bob Ezrin, he produced albums for Kiss, Pink Floyd, Jane's Addiction, Army of Anyone, Alice Cooper and Nine Inch Nails to name a few..
